I won't be able to make it tonight, either, but here's what I would 
have said had I been present :-)

I'd be up for traveling to see MJD and chipping in a donation. I'm not 
as interested in the Pair Programming excursion.

I'd be happy to prepare another talk if no-one else has anything in 
particular they want to do. Maybe something on Inline::C, XML parsing, 
or anything else there's interest in.

I could help with the under-the-hood bits of this. Design improvements 
aren't really my thing, though.

I think mandatory dues would do nothing but decrease our dwindling 
membership. I'd be surprised if we could raise more than $200 with 
either mandatory or voluntary contributions. It'd be nice to bring in 
speakers just for us, but until we have a much larger dedicated member 
base, I think our speaker pool will be purely opportunistic (e.g. local 
members, gurus that happen to be in town, and banding together with 
other groups (i.e. Toronto) to bring people in).
