Other reasonable recommendations:

Within 1-2 blocks of E&C:
Rock Bottom: it's about equivalent
The Taphouse: seats fewer, *many* beers on tap

At the Pike Place Market:
Pike Place Brewery: a little less nearby at Pike Place Market, seats
fewer and is often loud, excellent beer on tap
White Horse: doesn't open til 6PM, in Post Alley next to the market
Kell's: in Post Alley next to the market

I'd personally vote for going to: Rock Bottom (because it is closest
but not actually the same) or Kell's. Often people meet as early as
5pm so White Horse while nice, isn't exactly right. If we go to
Kell's, that makes it super-convenient to also go for flipping awesome
espresso at Seattle Coffee Works (across the street from the Pike
Place Market).
