y, I could have said "although X11 is there, I dont use it, or install 
ports that
use it"  Its supposed to work, but, it seems to be more work than joy 
for me..

for multiple perls, I leave that up to those more experienced than I !
I have one, on 10.4 its 5.8.6, which seems fine to me..

(python is another story, for another channel)
ps - the Postgres package works really well
