split problem

Whoops, you're right.  I had copied that from a version that I was trying earlier.

($space, $id, $interval, $sec, $transfer, $mbytes, $bandwidth, $mbits) = split (/\s+/, $_);

Here is the split I am using. I have never heard of 'Magic' split? Is there documentation on it somewhere?
