Sure. I use Perl to generate VB code for example ;-)
And I have written a Perl service as part of the project ... to 
generate MD5 hashes for files so that I could generate updates and 
be sure I do have all servers in sync, and to do a few more tasks 
now and then.

And of course a little script here, a little script there ... you know 
these. "Why to do something by hand, if you can automate it." ;-)
