parsing Excel spreadsheets and workbooks

Looks like I'm going to be parsing some Excel workbooks and enclosed worksheets. The appropriate module seems to be Spreadsheet::ParseExcel. 
Does anyone know of some good examples of its use? The documentation seems pretty sparse.
