Sr. Perl Engineer - Ticketmaster - West Hollywood, CA
Role:
Ticketmaster is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our
Online Transaction Applications Team. It's an exciting opportunity to
help evolve our product with next-generation web technologies. The
successful candidate will be working with other Developers, Systems
Engineers, as well as Product Managers, Designers, and Quality Assurance
professionals.
Responsibilities:
* Design & implementation of complicated projects involving the
architecture and development of code
* Review preexisting complex code and provide recommendations to improve
performance & maintainability
* Write new code and perform enhancements that integrate with old code
* Add new functionality to existing code
* Fix problematic code
Requirements:
* Minimum 3+ years complex application development experience in Perl
* Solid understanding of common design patterns
* Proficiency with Perl objects and object-oriented concepts
* Development experience with Apache and mod_perl
* SQL inserting, updating, retrieving, and optimization skills
* Experience debugging complex code issues
* Must be able to asses large complex code base quickly and accurately
* Must be a team player
* Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and designs to
non-developers
* Experience with version control, ideally CVS or Subversion
Preferences:
* Community involvement with CPAN, Apache, mod_perl, or other open
source projects
* Experience building dynamic web applications with Javascript and Ajax
* Data design and modeling
* Experience with other languages such as C/C++, Lisp, Ruby, or Python
* Knowledge of agile methodologies such as Test Driven Development or
Scrum
* Familiarity with development best practices, such as code reviews and
unit testing
* Experience developing international sites is a plus
* Experience with MySQL and Oracle
