On the serious side, regarding perl certification, why are you looking
for a certification? What are your goals?
I would agree that, although it sounds harsh and borderline prejudiced,
good communication skills (i.e. written English here in the US) will
help in finding a job, more than certifications.
If, however, you are looking to get a job based solely on your technical
talent then I would ask yourself "who hires Perl hackers, based solely
on technical merit?".
The answer will drive you in a better direction than where to get a
piece of paper.
My gut reply would be find an open source project, contribute heavily,
and use that as example of your technical achievements. The people who
hire Perl hackers for talent are usually smart enough to know that
certifications are worthless.
