Interesting.

I wish writers would stop with the damn smart quotes:

If you put single quotes around any text, the regex matches that text
literally. So instead of writing \* you can write ‘*’

 ‘*’ - when he really meant:

'*' as in the code sample. And it is not just on the web, I see it in
books as well.
