Hi Mark and all. That was a fast reply!

I'm sending the transliteration sub as an attachment (so that MS
Outaluck doesn't mess up the line wrap). The '1;' at the end is so that
you can require it in other scripts.

All comments and improvements are welcome. 

(Note: This algorithm started out in Power Basic, was then ported to
Paradox ObjectPAL, then to Powerscript, then to Oracle PL, then a
colleague implemented it as a C++ dll, so it has quite a history behind
it. With luck any original bugs have been squeezed out during the whole
process. Of course, in all those other languages it takes about ten
times as much code as in wonderful Perl!)
