if basic bickering on a list stops you from coming to yapc (and you have
two talks scheduled), you have a very thin skin. what is happening here
isn't bickering, it is trying to reestablish a norm of 10+ years where
attendees are subscribed to this list. it has obviously been for the
detriment of this yapc as there has been almost no communication here
but for the blog reposts and the few other threads. it is a real problem
that matt and i (and many others have chimed in with their support) want
to get fixed. notice how no one has said anything but support for this
idea. if the yapc leader (jt) wants to have support for his choice he
should have asked about it rather than unilaterally decided that
autosubscribing is spamming. it isn't and we all (but him) agree with that.

so you can choose what you want to do but this thread is vital to yapc
and our community. if we had all attendees subscribed we wouldn't be
having this thread and you would still be attending yapc. think about
that while you mull this over. also by not attending you are causing
more trouble by requiring replacement talks and also from your getting
to know and be known by others. i.e. be a part of the perl community.
and yapc's usually don't have too much bickering as most are having fun.
which is why i arranged the arrival dinner. and why i am upset that so
few know about it due to the subscribe issue. this is causing less fun
to be had in a real sense and not about some bickering (which isn't even
bickering as we all support the idea of subscribing).

thanx,

uri
