Let's try that again. Best way to dump done_testing is to run the test with a plan of 1, then fix the plan to match what the test says is right.
If your test does a random number of tests, try to find a way to make it dependable, or to compute it and use
use Test::More;
...
plan tests => $your_computed_number;
