[HRPM] XML and the Card Catalogue System

Hello all,

I remember speaking to somebody at the last meeting who works at the ODU
library, and I have a question for him, or anyone else who might have an
inkling:

 Posted on the Free Software Foundation's "please code this" list is a
requirement for a freely available card catalogue system. I thought that
it might be a good project to try my hand at, and after a bit of
research, came to the blindingly obvious conclusion that working it up
in TkPerl as I had originally intended might be a bit backward, so I'm
busy inhaling all the info on XML I can find (it seems the obvious
choice).

 My question is: Is anyone aware of a DTD that has already been defined
for this purpose, so I don't go code some non-compliant and therefore
useless app?
