Have you had a look at Rose::DB / Rose::DB::Object / 
Rose::DB::Object::Manager?

I've just started using it in a project at work these last few weeks, so 
I'm still learning lots of things about it, but so far it's been 
extremely useful.  I've not yet found anything that it can't cope with 
(but that's not saying much I guess).
