Back in my hometown of Pittsburgh, there is a monthly
Geek Night, which draws dozens, sometimes hundreds of
geeks every month. It is held at a large microbrewery,
and there are often corporate sponsors who send
representatives and lay out a free buffet. A reminder
is sent to a large mailing list a week before the
event. It's a fabulous opportunity for networking,
catching up with old friends and making new ones.
There is no speechifying; it's all about food, drink,
and conversation.
