my second (official) Perl hack

Hi all.  It's hard for me to make meetings as I live in Woodstock, have
a wife and three young kids, and have been very busy with work.  As
evidenced by the fact that they're all out at an ice cream social at the
elementary school now while I'm working on a job.

Anyhow, just wanted to share this
