The market is okay here. Perl is just one thing I do. I'm more of a
UNIX/Linux specialist. I've been working with Linux since 1994. In
2000 I started doing embedded Linux development. My Perl skills were
obtained when I needed a language to do heavy testing of our product.
The first programs I wrote would exercise the product so I could look
for bugs and memory leaks. I liked the language so much I used it to
write all of our back end network monitoring code. Our GUI is written
in Java but only used for the web interface. All the real work is done
in Perl. The embedded devices are all written in C/C++. I now have
enough memory on these devices to start using Perl on them.

Thanks for the responses. I've put my resume online
