This just came in over the Perl.org daily announcement list:
The Perl Journal: Under New Management [Other]
According to an [0]April 29 press release from EarthWeb
reporting its 1Q 1999 financials, EarthWeb has acquired [1]The
Perl Journal. The company's [2]SEC Filing of March 19, 1999
notes that the combined cost of the recent acquisitions of TPJ,
the TPJ web site, and [3]gocertify.com (an IT certification
information service) was $980,000, with additional payments
based on future performance of up to $500,000.
Jon Orwant, who remains as Editor of TPJ, said that "EarthWeb
has assumed responsibility for production, advertising,
marketing, distribution, order fulfillment, subscription
services, design, and the web site of The Perl Journal." It is
unclear what the precise impact of all of this will be. The
next issue, #14, is currently in production.
Jon must be a happy hacker these days!
