I wanted to give everyone a heads up that at this point an arrival dinner has not been planned. This is normally sorted by attendees but has not yet been done this year.

Larry and I usually attend either the Arrival Dinner or the Alt Arrival
Dinner, depending.  Larry has a lot of food restrictions--wheat, eggs,
seafood, tomato, and now dairy!  So sometimes the Alt Dinner seems like a
better fit.  But if no Dinner plans get made by anyone else, we'll probably
gather some people and go somewhere, since we will have already been there
since Saturday.  But we would prefer someone with local knowledge to make
suggestions.

Our entire development staff will be at the conference and we've arranged a get-together at The Commoner at ~6:30, so we're probably going to cross paths... This is by no means a recommendation for The Commoner, none of us are native Pittsburghians so being close to the venue was the deciding factor.

i was helping dan with the arrival dinner but i got stuck with work and 
writing up my talk.

dan suggested the rivers casino buffet which is what i recommend now. i 
am working on getting a large section for us. it is only 2 stops on the 
free subway to get there from the hotel. the buffet is about $22 plus 
tax and tip.

is there a better way to announce this? the yapc mailing list has been 
mostly silent this year. the wiki is on github and not on the old 
registration system so i don't know if people will use it.

i suggest meeting in the lobby of the hotel at 6:30 and migrating over 
to the casino. they don't need a reservation but i will work on a 
separated section if possible.

Uri, thanks for (once again) taking the initiative to organize this. 
IIRC we have used the wiki on github to record names of Arrival Dinner 
attendees for at least the past two years -- definitely in 2017 when I 
was one of the organizers.  So creating the wiki page should get us going.

hi all,

i have settled on the rivers casino Grand View Buffet for the arrival 
dinner on sunday night. i posted info on the wiki page:

the restaurant is 3 stops on the (FREE) subway from the hotel.

there is a requirement to be 21 and up as you go through the casino to 
get to the restaurant. (sorry gloria)

the price is $19.99 and i assume it will be individual billing and cash 
or cards will be accepted.

we will be gathering in the hotel lobby and leave at 6:30 (18 minutes to 
get there). the wiki has a google directions on the subway.

please forward this info to all attendees (in particular from the 
admin/newsletter team).

The location will be the Double Wide Grill (Southside location). We have a
reservation for 12 people @ 7pm. We'll meet in the lobby to organize
transportation at 6:40. It is walkable but it'll take c. 40 minutes, so I'm
