Some of us had insider info :) Though I was planning on presenting 
something on perl6 anyway, just to buck the trend.

Well, mine will mostly be stupid grammar tricks :) Seriously though, 
while there are some cool ideas in perl6 it'll take a few years for the 
kinks to work out. I'm mostly presenting some of the ideas in the hopes 
that someone will get inspired enough to help file off the rough edges. 
Also there are still vast green-field areas to play in, feel free to 
come in and romp around.

Also skirting dangerously close to the SoC guidelines :) It's only a few 
months until the conference but I'll have some other ideas to toss 
around at the sessions, I'm sure. Assuming I don't run into *too* many 
new bugs :)

I'd offhand suggest either Jon Worthingthon or Patrick Michaud, but most 
of the perl6ers I know of are here in Europe and not quite as likely to 
journey across the Big Pond. I can certainly help out, but I by no means 
consider myself with "real knowledge" I've filed a few bugs against some 
of the things I've noticed while playing around, but don't consider 
myself deeply knowledgeable.

We've done panel discussions at LPW, and maybe a few times at YAPC:EU, 
I'm not sure how well it's caught on over in ::NA.

For what it's worth, we accepted all the Perl 6 talks that were submitted,
with the exception of two. Those two were both proposed by the same person.
That person also proposed a number of Perl 5 talks, some of which were
accepted.

I'm making a concerted effort this year to keep the number of people giving
more than one talk to an absolute minimum, in order to maximize the variety
of people presenting.

My understanding is that most of the highly active Perl6 developers are
based in Europe. I would expect you'll see more Perl 6 talks at YAPC::EU.
As others have noted, you'll probably also see more Perl 6 talks at
YAPC::NA::2016 as well.

Larry's pretty recognizable, but the other Perl 6 people who will be
there are probably less so.  To encourage Michael and anyone else
interested in Perl 6 to find each other in the crowd and meet
informally, maybe we could do something like stickers on badges, or
getting everyone to stand up at the opening session, or something of
that sort?

If we're doing the ... flags? on badges thing, I'm pretty sure at least 
a few of them were custom printed, so why not add a perl6 flag? Or have 
a stack of perl6 buttons available? I'm sure I can find at least one 
lying around the house, or at least can bring a stack courtesy Evozon.

The badge ribbons were donated and we?ve just been depleting that stock year after year.    Have custom ones made is expensive.    If somebody wants to bring a stack of ?Perl 6? ribbons to YAPC for name badges, we?ll be happy to put them out on a table for people to take.

Thanks, Dan, I just went to the website and I 
ordered a lot of Perl 6 ribbons, with the Camelia 
butterfly logo.  Consider this todo done, I will 
bring them to YAPC::NA.  There will be enough for 
everybody, and I will give you a whole lot for 
other events, so you will have some in stock for next years too.

I also will bring a lot of stickers and buttons 
(for example like this

), and maybe even some other Perl 6 promotional items to this nice conference.

We do have a 3 meter wide canvas with the Camelia 
logo (as per specification: the Camelia butterfly 
must be 3 meters wide), and we could bring that 
with us.  It;'s a bit large.  The aluminum frame 
is even large, and that would be crazy to 
bring.  If there would be a nice place in the 
conference area to hang the canvas.  But we have 
to think of a way to hang the canvas properly.

Just for your info: this is Liz and me, receiving 
the White Camel Award in the presence of our 
camel and the Perl train station sign, right in 
front of the Camelia canvas.  :-)
