if mst and i are in violent agreement here, there must be something
right about our view to autosubscribe all attendees. it has always been
that way with no complaints. mst and i have seen this list as he says
above, is the PRIMARY means of communication about yapc. not having all
attendees on this list cuts it off at the knees. notice we are seeing
almost no emails from the larger attendee pool since they are not
subscribed. we would have threads on travel issues. sharing rooms/cars,
bofs, arrival dinner menus, etc. none of that is happening. jt said he
wanted more energy by posting a blog a day which is all good but then he
disables that very notion by not subscribing all attendees. and he
didn't tell anyone or ask for feedback. he runs this yapc sure but he
shouldn't have the only say in how this list is run and such. we
expected this list to be used by the yapc attendees but it is dormant.

example: i posted again about the arrival dinner. maybe 3-4 more people
signed up to it. this is two weeks until yapc. that is absurd. i can't
reach all the newcomers as they are not subscribed. this is an event
many of them would want to go to but they don't know about it. i have no
other way of telling them. the blog isn't read bu everyone (and nothing
has been blogged yet about the arrival dinner).
