This is a great idea.  If something like 4:30-6:30 could be considered "during the workday" it might be easier for some people to knock off work early than to take a long lunch, plus more conducive to continuing into a regular Perl Mongers meeting.  But I'm ok with either.

As far as people ideas, one very crude measure of who's who in Perl-land is who contributed the most patches to the core in the 5.10 era (see list below).  Perhaps a more interesting query would be the authors of the most-downloaded CPAN modules, assuming the requisite stats are available.
