We could invite Ruben Verborgh (http://ruben.verborgh.org/blog/2012/08/30/perl-and-the-preikestolen/) to talk about his experience in the Moose hackatlon and get Liz to talk about the Perl reunification plans? Just an idea. C. Deze en volgende week kan ik echter niet wegens een in te leveren eindwerk. De twee daaropvolgende weken kan ik me ergens in principe wel vrijmaken voor een avondje. Groetjes. Deadline is the first of October. More about how we plan to fill the day later. My question is? What is our preference day for the dev-room? Saturday or Sunday? C. Does this also include a stand, or would we have to apply for that separately? If we have a stand, we will of course come by with the usual stuff: books / camel / raptors / butterflies, etc. etc. > My question is? What is our preference day for the dev-room? Saturday or Sunday? I would have a mild preference for Saturday. On the account that everybody would be fresher. But that is only a very mild preference. I will ask about it on the mail with the dev-room proposition. The stand is a very important part of the FOSDEM weekend, so it being there would be really fantastic. C. I'd go for Saturday for the same reason.. best -- erik From padre.claudio at apt-get.be Tue Sep 25 13:34:24 2012 From: padre.claudio at apt-get.be (Claudio Ramirez) Date: Tue, 25 Sep 2012 22:34:24 +0200 Subject: [Vlaanderen] FOSDEM dev-room request DRAFT Message-ID: This is what I want to send to the FOSDEM organisers. Feel free to comment, correct, etc. Claudio _____________________________________ * Devroom name: Perl dev-room * Description / Why should FOSDEM accept this proposal? We are organizing presentations and hacking sessions of a number of Perl related open source projects such as Dancer (web framework), Mojolicious (web in a box), Rakudo (the compiler of Perl 6), Padre (the Perl IDE), Moose (declarative OO-framework) and many CPAN modules providing a varied array of pre-programmed and ready to use solutions. We count also on presentations about the state of "Modern Perl", that characterizes the core and CPAN Perl development of the last few years and the re-invention and cleanup of Perl 5 by the Perl community. FOSDEM has evolved to an important date in the Perl calendar. The local and regional Perl Mongers groups are contacted to rally speakers and volunteers, resulting in a stronger community. As a consequence of the growing collaboration between the Perl5 and the Perl6 world, both languages benefit of a regular stream of new and exiting features. FOSDEM is a good place to show the fruits of this work to a wider audience. This will be our fourth consecutive year with an active involvement in FOSDEM. We think we have offered interested insights to the wider FOSS world. We have worked hard to show where Perl stands today and how it's evolving. Our booth (with the famous giant camel and the biggest collection of Perl books in the world) has been very successful and the talks well attended. Although we already have strong ties with some projects, new ideas and contacts from other projects will reinforce this positive cross-pollination at the core of the FOSS movement. * Project URLs: http://www.perl.org/ http://perldancer.org/ http://mojolicious.org/ http://moose.perl.org http://www.rakudo.org/ http://padre.perlide.org/ http://dbi.perl.org/ http://search.cpan.org/dist/MongoDB/ http://www.modernperlbooks.com http://perl6.org/ * Preferred day: Saturday From eco at ecocode.net Tue Sep 25 13:37:39 2012 From: eco at ecocode.net (Erik Colson) Date: Tue, 25 Sep 2012 22:37:39 +0200 Subject: [Vlaanderen] [Bruxelles-pm] FOSDEM dev-room request DRAFT In-Reply-To: (Claudio Ramirez's message of "Tue, 25 Sep 2012 22:34:24 +0200") References: Message-ID: Claudio Ramirez writes: > This is what I want to send to the FOSDEM organisers.
