I could do a talk on collecting netflow data with perl, or perhaps a lightning talk on eucalyptus. While not strictly perl related, it's pretty cool -- running your own s3/ec2 api compatible cloud. Could also do one on perl behind gtmetrix.com - primairly using POE to manage a ton of procs. Some of you may know me, but for those who do not, I have been running a local perl shop (http://www.base-10.net) for the last 7 years. I think it is time I came out of the shadows and would be willing to give a talk on the various technologies and techniques we used to build our new SaaS product RealtyNinja (http://www.realtyninja.com). It could range anywhere from DBIx::Class to Catalyst to deploying on nginx and anywhere in between. For a later date I would love to talk about rapid development and the tools and tricks available to perl programmers for quick and dirty web app development ala Getting Real. Just putting it out there. Here is the information on our next meeting: *Date: July 14th Time: 6:30 Location: Gossamer Threads (5th floor, 455 Granville St.)* We currently have four presentations lined up: *Alex *- either collecting netflow data or eucalyptus *Andreas *- a module written by andreas *Scott *- joyent *Casimir *- anything from DBIx::Class to Catalyst and in between I'll update the van.pm website with this information shortly (unless someone else feels like doing it). The last, and most important consideration is: *What are we going to do about beer?* I think getting a whole keg puts a bit too much pressure on everyone to drink and pay - plus it's always nice to actually remember the evening afterward. But we can get a keg again if people are interested. Alternatively, those who are interested could pool our money and make a beer run. Or we could just BYOB. Any ideas? I'm excited to see everyone again! Hope to see you there! - Christie Wilson -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
