The time has come for another meeting. I skipped June because I was incredibly busy (getting married at the end of May, going on vacation, etc.), but this month should be good. I'm thinking either July 18th or July 25th (both Wednesdays) - are these good for people? Does anyone have a preference? Also, I am looking for people to present. I've got a few maybes so far, but if you have anything you'd like to present, let me know. It doesn't matter if it's a 5-minute blurb on something cool you've found or a half-hour in-depth talk on something you've been using for years - all content is appreciated! So, reply here, or post a comment on the website* (to which this is cross-posted), and we'll try to work out a time and agenda for the next meeting. *http://vancouver.pm.org From kungfuftr+vancouver.pm at gmail.com Mon Jul 9 11:08:39 2007 From: kungfuftr+vancouver.pm at gmail.com (Scott McWhirter) Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2007 11:08:39 -0700 Subject: [Van-pm] July Meeting In-Reply-To: References: <625b0a180707031202r5eedecbap6ae573d28f296c45@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: Hey all, I'm hoping to give a talk at this meeting, Luke asked me to do a talk introducing DBIx-Class (http://search.cpan.org/dist/DBIx-Class) so I'll hopefully have something prepared in time (hehe). I'm also helping to try and line up some speakers from out of town to speak at our next few meetings. It looks like July 25th (next Wednesday) is better for most people (including both confirmed presenters). There's not going to be any pizza this time around, since I'm expecting a much smaller crowd, but we will have chips and pop available again, at no charge (thanks, Sophos!). So, the exact details: When: Wednesday, July 25, 7:00pm Where: Sophos (580 Granville Street, Vancouver) I'm still very interested in hearing from possibly presenters, even if it's only for a short 5 minute segment. Wiki Tests are wiki pages containing tables that describe test steps. They allow our non-technical QA folks to do extensive product automation using Selenium and Selenium IDE, while also making easy things easy and hard things possible. My talk would be ~20m + questions, and I'd cover some basic selenium setup, the code behind wiki tests, and how it all looks in practice. Thoughts? Chris - will there be internet access this time? The good news is that August looks to have a pretty good meeting. Along with a few local presenters, it looks like we're going to have a special guest coming up the U.S. I haven't got final confirmation, but when I do I'll post the time and details. The meeting will most likely be on a weekend in mid to late August - this could allow some other out-of-towners to make it in (hello, any Victoria lurkers). Once again, I'm sorry that July is going meeting-less, but hopefully we can make up for it in August. I hope the summer's going well! -chris From lukecloss at gmail.com Mon Jul 30 06:38:50 2007 From: lukecloss at gmail.com (Luke Closs) Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2007 06:38:50 -0700 Subject: [Van-pm] Perl Survey Message-ID: Take part in the 2007 Perl Survey!
