I'm moving to Newcastle-upon-Tyne this September to take an undergraduate course in Software Engineering at Newcastle University, after co-running a computer consultancy business for the last 6 years here. Yes, I'll be a "mature" student at 27. Perl is in many ways the language I enjoy more. Most of my last projects, big and small, were all done in Perl: CGI, Mason and even Gtk (GladeXML) stuff. I also attended both YAPC::NA 19100 (Pittsburgh) and YAPC::NA 2001 (Montreal). The University will probably make me learn and use Java more but I'm sure I'll still do some Perl while I'm there. I'd love to participate in Tyneside.pm, meet other interested programmers, share Perl skills and improve my English. Maybe over some beer, if that's what you normally do... :) It's still early, but I wanted to get a feel on how the group's running, see if there's something I could be of help. All the best, Gabriel ----- End forwarded message ----- -- Chris Benson From chrisb at jesmond.demon.co.uk Thu Jun 26 03:43:45 2003 From: chrisb at jesmond.demon.co.uk (Chris Benson) Date: Wed Aug 4 00:11:01 2004 Subject: Tyneside.pm monger-to-be In-Reply-To: <20030626013258.GC1553@toor.metavurt.net> References: <20030626013258.GC1553@toor.metavurt.net> Message-ID: <20030626094345.B9261@gamma.home> On Thu, Jun 26, 2003 at 02:32:58AM +0100, Jose Gabriel J Marcelino wrote: > > Hi, > > My name's Gabriel, I'm currently a Perl Monger with the Lisbon.pm > group here in Portugal (actually I'm the group coordinator). We're very quiet at the moment: having someone in the University would help evangelising. Let us know when you're arriving and we can arrange a meeting. -- Chris Benson
