Hi All,

There were no takers at tonight's meeting, so at 715pm I closed the meeting.

Here's my news from the World of Perl:
- Because Perl presenters are notorious procrastinators, the conference's
Call for Papers (CfP) was reopened and extended to midnight last Saturday.
This move seemed to do the trick, as we now have what look like enough
papers for the conference, including half a dozen-ish submissions to the
new Science track.
- There will be not one, but two keynotes, both by very well-known members
of the Perl community. Because of distance (and time zones, hint hint),
these presentations will be remote. I'm really looking forward to both of
them.
- Sarah Gray will be heading up the Volunteer brigade, and there is going
to be a signup page for that on the tprc.us website for that purpose.
- Organizer Peter K reports that 1/3 of the room allocation is booked, so
if you're thinking about coming to the conference, better book a room soon.
- Chris Prather is planning to do a one day course on Friday (after the
last day of the conference), with content and pricing to be announced.

The organizing committee is currently meeting weekly on Tuesday at 5pm ET
-- if you are on the TPRC Slack channel, you can find the URL for the
meeting and for the agenda. We're happy to have people come by while we
discuss Important Stuff. We started the last meeting discuss odds for the
various games in Vegas -- I expect there will be talks (regular and
lightning) about some of the games offered by the various establishments in
town.

The calendar tells me that our next meeting will be Thursday May 30. I hope
to see some folks then. Remember that after May, we won't meet again until
July, since the June meeting is cancelled in lieu of the annual conference.

Cheers,

Alex
