Hi All,
Here's a link to my presentation from last month, titled So You Want To
Send E-Mail.
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1SR-LjtATQ51kk5xRd-XjM9el2HfZZHpspeZYo4oBqI8/edit?usp=sharing
The TXT record that I had to add to my domain told Google that my domain
was allowed to send E-Mail through the IP address 209.68.5.151:
pianofortesystems.ca. 3600 IN TXT "v=spf1 mx a ip4:
> 209.68.5.151/32 ~all"
>
In keeping with the usual and customary security precautions, I used /32 to
indicate that it was just this single IP address. The link
https://support.google.com/mail/answer/81126#authentication from my
presentation will give you a good starting point in how to address this
issue for google mail.
In addition, when I mentioned during my Q&A that sshfs could fail, someone
looked up the man page and found that the sshfs argument
-o reconnect
would solve the issue that I had with losing a connection. Another reason
to do presentations for a smart audience -- they find cool stuff and share
it!
For November, I am thinking of doing a presentation on What Happens When
Prod, Staging and Dev are the Same Environment -- as is my current client
situation.
I would like to have a social meeting in December, on perhaps the second
Thursday, which would be December 14. Our usual location is C'est What,
near Church and Front. Let me know if that works. There would be no
technical meeting in December (as usual).
We'll resume our virtual meetings in January of 2024, as we don't currently
have a downtown location at which to meet.
Cheers,
Alex
