Hi All,

Tonight Shawn S delivered a really interesting presentation on using
OpenAPI to build a Mojolicious app that provides web search functionality
for MetaCPAN. In the Q&A that followed we discussed the differences between
VMs and containers for some time.

It seems like there was a lot of interest in containers, so I'm going to
suggest that we come up with some ideas on that topic for our March
meeting. I'm hoping that folks on this list will be able to jump in a
suggest bite-sized mini-talks on topics related to containers. Here are
some ideas to get things rolling:
- Docker: where did it come from? /
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docker_(software)
- Vagrant: what MetaCPAN used to run on /
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vagrant_(software)
- The various flavours of VMs /
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_machine
- Kubernetes / https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubernetes

When I worked at Bluecat, I found the tool GuestFish very handy for
creating file systems that reported any size you wanted, but remained quite
small until you started putting stuff into the file system /

Let me know if this sounds like something that would be interesting to
watch and/or take part.

Alex

PS And thanks to Vadym of FlightNetwork for subbing in for Sachin -- we
appreciated the excellent pizza and beer.
