I'm away for this month's meeting, taking care of administering a barbershop contest in Portland, Maine, so stepping in this month is our current location host, Sachin Sebastian. If you have an idea for a talk, please think about it (or just start building the presentation) and let Sachin know. Ideally, two talks are great for an evening, but we can get by with one, and when we're able to run a Google Hangout that's recording the correct screen, a remote presenter works fine (Yanick did one recently). I'm wondering if one of them would be of interest to the group. 1. I think I already terrified this group with Neovim::RPC, didn't I? Well, lately I figured out that neovim has a remote plugin / host architecture, and that the nodejs client for it is pretty sweet. I could do a talk on how to write plugins in that system. teasers: http://techblog.babyl.ca/entry/neovim-remote-plugins https://github.com/yanick/nvim-jq 2. one of my pet projects to learn new languages is an implementation of Full Thrust (think Battletech or WH4K, but with spaceships). The last incarnation of the project is in NodeJS (see a pattern?), and... the final tech-stack is almost obscene: https://yanick.github.io/aotds/graph.html I could give a whirlwind introduction tour for seasoned Perlers of all those techs. 3. I'm... game for mostly any other suggestion. Dare speak it, and I'll dare talk about it. :-) Joy, `/anick From legrady at gmail.com Sun Oct 14 07:29:31 2018 From: legrady at gmail.com (Tom Legrady) Date: Sun, 14 Oct 2018 10:29:31 -0400 Subject: [tpm] Computer Books In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: I'm moving soon and I have a heap of O'Reilly and other computer books. My goal is have a talk that feels like a roller-coaster ride: by the end you'd hopefully have screamed in terrified glee, suffered a mild contusion, and concurrently pray never have to do through it again / ponder jumping right back for a second round.
