We've got two presentation lined up, one of which is super-awesome (you pick): *Tommy Stanton starring in "Perl-powered blogging software: Angerwhale to Galuga": * > I've wanted to host my own blog for over a year now, but I'm stubborn > and I have refused to use software that isn't: (1) Powered by Perl; > (2) In the culture of the CPAN. > > I will give an overview and demo of the two major options that I > myself will soon choose from: Angerwhale and Galuga. > > I know what you're thinking: "'Angerwhale'? Hmm, an angry > whale...alright, that sort of makes sense...but 'Galuga'!?" > > ...does it help if I explain that "Galuga" is simply short for > "Gamboling Beluga"? :) Didn't think so. > *Aran Deltac starring in "Couch DB": * > Because JSON is so cool Couch DB inherits coolness via virtual-subclassing. > More details about this event, including the address and a map, can be found on our meetup page: http://www.thousand-oaks-perl.org/calendar/15764576/ See you all then! Please let me know what other companies in the area you are aware of that use Perl. This could be your current employer, former employer, places you interviewed with, companies where your friends work, or companies you just heard about. Our goal is to promote the Perl ecosystem in and around LA, helping both the local companies and local Perl developers. We would also welcome links to the site if you care to help promote this project. You can follow this project on Twitter: http://twitter.com/perldotla We've started collecting information about each company including: - Company web site - Link to job postings - Address with link to map - LinkedIn page - Twitter account If you can think of other features that would be useful, we're building a list of potential enhancements. Thanks to Campus Explorer (my company and currently hiring Perl developers) for helping out by sponsoring the moderately expensive domain registration. -- Eric Hammond eric at perl.org From tommystanton at gmail.com Fri Jan 28 15:57:45 2011 From: tommystanton at gmail.com (Tommy Stanton) Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2011 15:57:45 -0800 Subject: [Thousand-oaks-pm] Presentation source code and slides from 1/19/11 LA.pm meeting Message-ID: Hi Los Angeles and Thousand Oaks Perl Mongers, Here is my presentation from our last meeting(s).
