So, come on by Wednesday, 7pm, at the usual location. Details are at: http://thousand-oaks-perl.org/ I'm attempting to get a coworker to present some non-work project that he has been developing the last couple weeks where he is serializing Moose objects, deserializing them with Joose, and calling Moose methods from a Joose object. Very cool stuff. I'll see if I can line up one or two other subjects to discuss. I'd also like to put my feelers out for anyone that would want to be involved in organizing/promoting/funding a SoCal Perl Workshop this year. Message-ID: <24CF2B9B9D2BCC4B8F6EA9528B63C8360CD0CCF2@LA-EXCLUST01.corp.valueclick.com> After years of waiting Parrot 1.0 is released! Read more on parrot.org: http://www.parrot.org/news/2009/Parrot-1.0.0 They have a really nice release plan going that also explains the adoption phases: http://www.parrot.org/news/vision-for-1_0 My understanding is Perl 6 (Rakudo 1.0, rakudo.org) in its full glory is *not* included, but should be on its way sometime soon (a couple months I'm hoping). We should make the next mongers meeting (April 8th) be a Parrot 1.0 party. Can someone volunteer to demo Parrot 1.0? I wonder how hard it would be to write GOL (Game of Life) in native parrot code (is it still PIR?)... Cheers!
