I wasn't expecting you (or anyone to). It's a recurring meeting, but if anyone needs it, I can have my server send out a tickler each month. Are we still OK to use your company's room next Wednesday for the meeting? And, as long as we're discussing the meeting.... Last month we had not one BUT TWO presentations. Both of which were great. Is there anyone who would like to either present something. Or, to submit a problem for discussion at next week's meeting? A little background may help though… Every so often I get an opportunity to write a QnD (quick and dirty) script or program for various purposes in the shop. For example, the owners of the remote ends of some the hardware VPNs tend to favor the same private IP subnets (usually the default : ) As a result, there is some IP address overlap and ambiguity and resulting confusion. At one point, I was changing routes on an internal router almost daily to accommodate the needs of the users, but that eventually became futile. The next step was to send out instructions for users to setup their own routes…bigger disaster! I finally started to write C console programs to change the routes for them and it helped a lot, but it seems overkill to do something in C that would be much easier in Perl. A couple years ago, I wrote a little widget in Perl using the Net:: package and it saved roughly five minutes per transfer, compile, and review iteration …the true beauty of Perl. At this point I would like to distribute the QnDs in Perl to those who require them but without the overhead of installing (normally ActiveState) as well as any modules not included in the default distribution, since system configurations as well as systems themselves are in constant flux. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time, Todd -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I didn't realize there was a pure authoritarian means to enforce coding conventions.
