Agreed.

And as was said at the meeting (therefore not posted to the list)...  
the client expressly did *not* want data analysis.  They only wanted  
one "pretty picture" for the marketing department.  Given the one-off  
nature of the project, Perl was chosen for its familiarity to the  
programmer and group (not for its (lack of) general-purpose data  
analysis).
