I use Mason on a daily basis, and would highly recommend it. It's got a
lot of features that you won't find in other templating systems. It also
has drawbacks, and is a young and actively developed product.
Most major difficulty I've encountered: it doesn't give useful line
numbers when reporting errors. This is scheduled to be fixed, but is a
more difficult problem than it sounds, and may be a while.
Other similar systems to consider: the Template Toolkit, and (dare I
say) Zope.
