SPUG: can't resolve symbol 'SetCPerlObj'

When trying to do a "make test" on GD-1.22 module, I get the following
error. Does anybody know what I'm missing?

I think I have all the prerequsites, like zlib libpng ttf xpm. 
I don't get it.
