Dear Jay: Eric Calder referred me to PERL Mongers as a possible resource to find programmers. I'm a recruiter, in the Burbank area, who finds staffing for the entertainment industry. We do not do advertising for candidates and subscribe to the philosophy that referrals are a more reliable resource to find qualified dependable applicants. With this in mind I implore you to consider referring a programmer or two. One of my clients, a film trailer company, is seeking a PERL programmer to set up the foundation for a portal. It is a fun creative environment, though I'm discovering that's not a main selling point to programmers. The pay rate cleared is $60-$75 hourly or approximately low $100k for a full time gig with full benefit package. Position is in the Culver City area. Another client, in Woodland Hills, has the portal set up, requires a PERL programmer on site to handle to growth and changes necessary. Depending on expertise this position will pay a salary range of $65K - $110K. Do you know of anyone who might be interested in either of these positions? I appreciate any help you may be able to provide in pointing me in the right direction for finding candidates if you don't know of any seeking employment. In the meantime, be well and be blessed. I'll start with the basics and give a good overview of the main points. regexs are one of the *major* features of Perl, hopefully I can do them justice. I'll also talk a little bit about the Java conference and why I'm really starting to like Java. On a more important note, I won't be able to coordinate for this group anymore. My job has been getting more demanding and with my new daughter's arrival, so has my family. If someone is willing to keep the group alive I'd love to attend the meetings, but I can't really do much more. Hopefully, we'll find a volunteer. I was hoping that someone would step up to the plate, but there havn't been any takers. Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, and I won't be able to make it. I've got a family event on Friday in LA. I was trying to juggle things so that I could do both. Unfortunately that would mean that work would suffer, and I can't really do that either. I've got a lot of balls in the air at work right now and I'd really rather not drop one. I didn't mean to get so detailed in this note, but I wanted to convey that I'm not bowing out of this meeting lightly, I just can't carve out that much time out of my schedule right now. I suggest that if there is continued interest in keeping the group alive, lets keep discussion going via email. I'd like to see the group survive. If we can figure out a way to make that happen it would be great for all concerned. Hopefully, that will be the case. --Jay Jay Di Silvestri Executive Vice President Advanced Data Engineering 1310 Redwood Way, Suite 120 Petaluma, CA 94954 (707) 794-7000 x23 jay@adei.com From jay at adei.com Wed Apr 26 17:10:32 2000 From: jay at adei.com (Jay Di Silvestri) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:21:07 2004 Subject: FW: Next Meeting for Sonoma.pm Message-ID: Thanks Matt At very least can you post the meeting info to this mailing list so that people are informed?
