Just a quick note to let you know that we are hiring.  There are two job
descriptions below.  We could fill either or possibly both slots right now.
Salary will be based on experience, but in any event it will be a
competitive rate.  Please respond if you are interested.

POSITION:	Programmer Analyst

Effective Date: 	April 15, 1999
Job Status: 	Full-time, Permanent, Exempt.
Reports to:  	President

Duties and Responsibilities:

*	Performs programming services for outside organizations that
contract with ADEi.  These services may involve broad assignments requiring
planning, research, and original thought.
*	May coordinate on the project directly with the client's technical
or editorial staff.
*	Develops the precise steps and processing logic for data conversion
programs which, when entered into a coded language such as Perl, cause the
manipulation of data to achieve desired results.
*	Tests and corrects programs, and modifies them to increase operating
efficiency or to respond to data changes.
*	Has and applies a working knowledge of the principles and practices
of data conversion and electronic publishing.
*	As a fully qualified programmer, applies established ADEi
programming standards, and participates in walk-through's of programs that
other ADEi Software Engineers have written. 
*	Requires limited supervision by occasional monitoring and status
reports.  Applies independent judgment in devising program logic and in
selecting and adapting standard programming procedures.  Resolves problems
and obtains advice where standards and precedents are unclear or
unavailable.
*	Keeps current in industry standards and innovations and application
software, and makes presentations on relevant subjects to other ADEi
employees to help them keep current as well.


Qualifications:

*	Bachelors' degree (computer science preferred) or equivalent.  
*	3+ years of experience related to software development and
electronic publishing.
*	Experience using UNIX and one or more programming languages such as
Perl or C++.
*	Must have strong communications abilities: written and oral.
*	Must have strong organization and coordination skills and the
ability to manage multiple tasks.
*	Must have strong problem solving skills.


Work Environment/Physical Demands:

*	General office environment. Normal levels of stress. No special
physical demands required.




POSITION:	Associate Programmer Analyst

Effective Date: 	April 15, 1999
Job Status: 	Full-time, Permanent, Nonexempt.
Reports to:  	President


Duties and Responsibilities:

*	At this trainee level, performs routine programming assignments that
do not require skilled background experience but do require basic knowledge
of established programming procedures and data processing requirements.
*	Works according to clear-cut and complete project specifications.
*	May have some interaction with the client's technical or editorial
staff.
*	Under supervision, learns to develop the precise steps and
processing logic for data conversion programs which, when entered into a
coded language such as Perl, cause the manipulation of data to achieve
desired results.
*	Learns to apply established ADEi programming standards.
*	Tests and corrects programs, and modifies them to increase operating
efficiency or to respond to data changes.
*	Develops an emerging knowledge of the principles and practices of
data conversion and electronic publishing.
*	Becomes familiar with current industry standards and innovations and
application software.



Qualifications:

*	Bachelors' degree (computer science preferred) or equivalent.  
*	0-2 years of experience related to software development and
electronic publishing.
*	Familiarity with UNIX and one or more programming languages such as
Perl or C++.
*	Must have strong communications abilities: written and oral.
*	Must have strong organization and coordination skills and the
ability to manage multiple tasks.
*	Must have strong problem solving skills.
