Because of the size of the meeting, I don't have much in the way of minutes. It was fairly disorganized (even for us!) and we ended up breaking into a couple different groups to discuss various things, some Perl, some not Perl (we had a Python coder in our midst!). I'll relate what I can recall of the meeting. Other attendees should feel free, should feel encouraged, to add to this. - A couple of us helped George (did I get your name right, George?) with a little Perl hacking he was doing; carried over from the KPLUG list. - Brian kicked the tires on Gtk2-Perl for Windows. http://gtk2-perl.sourceforge.net/ http://wiki.antlinux.com/pmwiki.php?n=HowTos.GuiToolKitLinks - In my little sub-group, there was much discussion of all things Open Source. Christel, who I mentioned in the journal post Bob provided above, wants me to give a lightning talk and host a BOF at the FOSSCON convention she's organizing. Obviously, I have a strong bias towards Perl for both of these. At OSCON, the Portland Perl Mongers had a special meeting at the convention center. I think it'd be great to do something similar at FOSSCON. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm listening. http://www.fosscon.org/ -- Chris Grau -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... The perl stuff is for my extension to VNC that I'm doing for my class project. You can read all about it on my wiki http://wsms.wikiplanet.com/mediawiki/index.php/RemoteViewerProject. It is a work in progress. BTW - If anyone wants a mediawiki of their own for a worthy cause, there is plenty of room on my server at present. About 250 people attended the event and it was a great success, largely due to attendance and strong support from the participating User and Technology Interest Groups and people like you. Just like last year, the March Mingle is a technology agnostic event that brings together developers of all kinds, a sort of annual "Technology Woodstock" or "Ultimate Geek Happy Hour" for San Diego. No sales or technical presentations, just talking shop and munching on finger food while relaxing and enjoying the games and atmosphere. Thanks to our sponsors, we will have a buffet of finger food and plenty of door prizes, including software and books. When: Wed, March 21st, 5:30PM - 9:00PM Where: Dave and Busters (map @ marchmingle.com) Cost: Free Finger Food (Cash Bar) RSVP/Info: http://www.marchmingle.com Sponsors: Adobe (adobe.com) Microsoft (microsoft.com) GroundWork Open Source (groundworkopensource.com) LAMP Host (lamphost.com) ... more on the way!
