Message-ID: <370C3372.C138DB@directedge.com> Ok, Well, this is a user's group. User's groups tend to have meetings once in a while. I would like to start looking into this and get things set up. I'd like to see if anyone has any suggestions for a time and place to do these things.. We could go out for some food, just to get to know each other, or get together and do some sort of perl talk, and just kick around some of the things we've been working on. What are your feelings on this? Brian Mathis From havoc at eznet.net Thu Apr 8 09:21:22 1999 From: havoc at eznet.net (Pat) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:19:47 2004 Subject: [rochester-pm-list] Meetings? Preferably NOT one of the following days: 1st Wednesday of the month 2nd Thursday 2nd Wednesday 3rd Thursday (this is the monthly LINUX users group mtg. if anyone is interested www.lugor.org) -- Alex -----Original Message----- From: Pat [mailto:havoc@eznet.net] Sent: Thursday, April 08, 1999 10:21 To: rochester-pm-list@happyfunball.pm.org Subject: Re: [rochester-pm-list] Meetings? Sounds like a great plan. If needed the upstairs room of my store (Boldo's Armory on Monroe) can accomodate 20 people or so. Dinner would be cool too, but it should be prefaced by a 'happy hour' or somesuch to allow folks to meet and greet for a bit. --Pat Ludwig > > Ok, > > Well, this is a user's group. We meet every Thursday night. The group's target membership is members of the RIT community, but anybody is welcome. The reason I'm writing is that we are having a Linux Installfest this Saturday, April 10th. If you'd like to join us either to just hang out with us or if you want to help out with installing or if you want us to install Linux on your machine, you should come on by. Details are on our website. -> http://www.rit.net/lug/ -- Shawn Porter RIT Linux User Group President http://www.rit.net/sporter sporter@rit.net From bmathis at directedge.com Sun Apr 18 12:21:56 1999 From: bmathis at directedge.com (Brian Mathis) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:19:47 2004 Subject: [rochester-pm-list] Meetings II Message-ID: <371A14B4.ADE7B21D@directedge.com> Ok, I have gotten a few responses about meetings. We currently have a location for the first meeting, Boldo's Armory on Monroe Ave. (Thanks Pat). Now we need to decide on a time. Based on the feedback I've gotten so far, it looks like either of these 2 dates will be good: 1st Monday of each month 3rd Wednesday of each month I figure we'll probably get going around 8:00 pm. If you plan on attending, please respond with the date that's best for you. If you don't care, respond with an "I don't care", so we can get a feel for how many people will be going. The main point of this meeting is to meet everyone face to face and brainstorm about what we want to get out of Rochester.PM. This will be important, as it will lay the foundation for future meetings. Looking forward to meeting everyone, Brian Mathis From rmd0549 at ritvax.isc.rit.edu Mon Apr 19 04:17:02 1999 From: rmd0549 at ritvax.isc.rit.edu (rmd) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:19:47 2004 Subject: [rochester-pm-list] Meetings II References: <371A14B4.ADE7B21D@directedge.com> Message-ID: <063901be8a45$62c35ea0$996a1581@rit.edu> I don't care From havoc at boldo.com Tue Apr 20 21:00:55 1999 From: havoc at boldo.com (Patrick Ludwig) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:19:47 2004 Subject: [rochester-pm-list] Meetings II In-Reply-To: <371A14B4.ADE7B21D@directedge.com> Message-ID: <199904210157.VAA16073@happyfunball.pm.org> Heh, guess I'll be there. :-) Either night is fine. --Pat > Ok, > > I have gotten a few responses about meetings. By overlay, I mean the little channel identifier that shows up in the corner of many shows on TV. (watch R News, you'll see.) I'm already shuffling these images around with a Perl script; is there any way under Win32 to make this image resizing/etc. happen? It's currently being accomplished with a Photoshop action, which is fine except that it requires someone to be physically present. They are online at: http://www.stonehenge.com/merlyn/WebTechniques/ After a quick glance, one is doing image manipulation: Article: http://www.stonehenge.com/merlyn/WebTechniques/col29.html Code: http://www.stonehenge.com/merlyn/WebTechniques/col29.listing.txt It might be able to point you in the right direction.. I am doing graphs with GD image libraries for win32's, If you have downloaded the new activeperl you can use PPM to download the GD package.... you can manipulate gif files with this. If your files are jpeg then I don't really know, but drop me a line. Jay L. Toops
