Since you are using PSGI, maybe use:

https://metacpan.org/pod/Test2::Tools::HTTP


This comes from a zero knowledge background.

But it does look like it has stuff to deal with PSGI and might
just talk to that layer directly?

This might also test at a level just below where you might
want. At least from a "what does the user see?" standpoint
vs. a "I messed with this function...what http does it
spit out?".

Just flinging pasta at the wall.
