From westerman at purdue.edu Thu Sep 10 12:39:51 2009 From: westerman at purdue.edu (Rick Westerman) Date: Thu, 10 Sep 2009 15:39:51 -0400 Subject: [Purdue-pm] Talks for upcoming meeting Message-ID: <4AA95607.7010006@purdue.edu> The next meeting is in 5 days -- Tuesday Sept. 15, 11:30 AM. So far only Mark has signed up for a talk. Can anyone else present? Personally my recent work with Perl, while extensive, has been mostly for 'one-off' programs that use standard techniques. But I'll try to find something interesting in that work. -- Rick Westerman westerman at purdue.edu Bioinformatics specialist at the Genomics Facility. We don't have many talks scheduled but I am hope that a lot of you will come up with short presentations. I am going to give a 5 minute or so talk on my favorite suite of programs to rag about -- the SOLiD corona lite perl programs. "Favorite" because they contain so many examples of poor Perl code. -- Rick Westerman westerman at purdue.edu Bioinformatics specialist at the Genomics Facility. Both Dave and myself have 5 minute talks. Perhaps someone can come up with a topic as well. Certainly *one* of us must have done something interesting with Perl lately. Maybe Phillip can do a 5 minute talk on perl one-liners. Any maybe I'll remember the syntax this time! It always seems easier to me to just write a perl script and make it executable instead of remembering the '-ane' (or whatever) of a one-liner. -- Rick Westerman westerman at purdue.edu Bioinformatics specialist at the Genomics Facility.
