The rest of you missed out. I promised a couple of the attendees I would post info for subscribing to the PM group to this list, so we can steer towards reducing cross-posts for those of you who don't care about Perl. So, send email to majordomo@hfb.pm.org and put in the body of the text (delete the '*'): sub*scribe pioneer-valley-pm-list We'll be planning the next meeting on that list. Tentatively, sometime in March, maybe in a place were we can eat and actually have a markerboard or something to talk about Perl. Even more tentatively, there seems to be some interest in Perl 6. j From owner-pioneer-valley-pm-list at pm.org Wed Feb 6 11:25:33 2002 From: owner-pioneer-valley-pm-list at pm.org (owner-pioneer-valley-pm-list@pm.org) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:18:38 2004 Subject: So what's up with this group anyway? Message-ID: <200202061725.g16HPX917682@mail.pm.org> Hi everybody! There seems to have been a flurry of subscription activity for this list recently. I thought I'd send you all a message to let you know where things stand. The Pioneer Valley PerlMongers Group is in its nascent stages. Granted, I did the administrative stuff to set the group up a couple of years ago, but we haven't yet quite gotten off the ground and had an actual meeting. I know that you are all probably as busy as I am, but if one or some of you would like to don your organizer's hats, that would be wonderful. We need a place to meet; I would imagine that one of the local educational establishments might be able to provide space. We also need to set up a meeting time. At the first meeting we could define how frequently, when and where we could meet on a regular basis. Or we could just go somewhere, drink some beer and the shoot the proverbial you-know-what. This IS a Perl group, after all. So post to the list with your ideas/suggestions and we'll take it from there. I have an organizer's hat and I'm not afraid to use it. Consider me volunteered. We don't have anything like a date set for next meeting. March is odd schedule-wise for academic folks because of spring break and midterms. And many folks seem to have some kind of regular commitment on some night of the week, so it may just have to jump around randomly for a while instead of having a regular schedule. There are a couple of tentative ideas to be in a non-restaurant environment so we can play with a markerboard or projector and actually look at some Perl. I offered to talk about Perl 6 if no one thinks of anything else they'd rather do. Judy suggested showing off favorite snips of code. Maybe we'll start a JAPH "contest" or something. Last night we basically agreed that we'd plan the next meeting on this list, then cross-post back to WeMaLU when we've picked something. You are subscribed here now, I hope? :) j From Virginia.Wiswell at dowjones.com Wed Feb 6 13:15:01 2002 From: Virginia.Wiswell at dowjones.com (Wiswell, Virginia) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:18:39 2004 Subject: So what's up with this group anyway?
