This is a cross-discipline gathering.  There are graphic designers,
lots of Ruby programmers, bloggers, podcasters, general Internet
whores... the turn out has been good, on the order of 20 or 30 people,
and the presentations are good.  It's supposed to be a kind of
hackfest and some people still treat it as such but mostly it has
degenerated into a social.

Please post to the list if you can make it to encourage other Perlers
to come out.  I'm planning to make it and have been going pretty
regularalaraly.  *cough, sputter*

the allowed operations mask for :default for "use ops", and the

Hey folks ... Long time no see!

In case anyone is looking for work ... my employer, Norchem Drug
Testing, has an immediate opening for a full-time Perl developer to
join our team of Perl developers in Flagstaff, AZ.  Responsibilities
include assisting in the development of a large database-driven web
application and helping to upgrade/rewrite the software application
that runs most every aspect of the lab.

General Development
  - Understanding of code revision systems (we use GIT)
  - Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycles
  - Linux usage and administration of your own development
environment (we use Ubuntu).
  - Understand Apache setup/configuration

Perl:
  - Strong understanding of application development and OO usage (not
just scripting)
  - Ability to write clean, modular, reusable, and maintainable code.
  - Ability to understand and write regular expressions.
  - Mod_perl handlers and developing/debugging in that environment.
  - DBIx::Class usage with MySQL back-ends.
  - HTML::Template
  - CGI::Application would be a plus.

JavaScript/Web technologies:
  - Understanding of the basics of cross-browser JavaScript
  - Understanding of AJAX concepts
  - CSS-based websites, cross-browser (IE, Firefox, Webkit)
  - Experience with prototype.js would be a plus.

MySQL:
  - Understanding of data base normalization and query optimization.
  - Use of proper data types, date functions, large joined queries,
constraints.
