I'm hoping to get back into the rhythm of regular phl.pm meetings this year -- I'd like to propose Mondays -- specifically the last Monday of the month. So the first one of 2020 would be January 27. Any volunteers to give a talk? Also any ideas for rebranding to address the raku name change? I won't be able to join you on the 27th -- because I've already scheduled an ny.pm social meeting for that night. (But while we generally meet on a Monday or a Tuesday -- less crowded bars -- we're not wedded to the 4th Monday. So this shouldn't be an ongoing conflict). Thank you very much. The last Monday is generally good for me, too. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Let's do it. Here's an official announcement: When : Monday January 27, 6:30 pm Where : Industrious -- 230 South Broad st, Philadelphia, 17th-18th floor What : Interacting with Consoles with Tmeta Description: Console interactions such as the ruby on rails console, the python debugger, remote ssh sessions, and docker container shells often involve diverse environments and short lived sessions. Automation is often difficult because the console will sometimes require a tty. Historically, tools like `expect` and `script` were designed to facilitate automation in these environments. Tools like `screen` and `tmux` also provide wrappers to allow for multiplexing and better interactivity. Tmeta combines features from both -- providing interactivity and scripting capabilities. In this talk we describe some of the features of tmeta and its implementation in the Raku programming language.
