Damany and Bellis I'm up for it! I'll compile a box of books to bring, plus I'll bring extra schwag from the Pittsburgh Perl Workshop including T-shirts, games, pens, and other gear. One crazy idea I had was a PM meeting combined with bowling. The holiday geekstuff exchange might be a good avenue for that, even though I might not be able to attend. Message-ID: <1449.10.8.0.6.1165858028.squirrel@webmail1.pair.com> Hi, I'll be giving a talk this Wednesday at our PGH-PM meeting about the fastest growing sport in the U.S, Curling! And at the same time, I'll also be talking about how I use Perl to help me in my game. 12/13/06 7:00pm @ Slaymaker Systems -- Be there! Message-ID: <7B06FAF4-B5FB-4808-B853-0D7C0E2E54D5@geeknest.com> Every December we hold our annual book exchange. I'm going to be giving away copies of: * Google Hacks * Mac OS X Hacks * Network Security Hacks * Higher-Order Perl I'm also bringing some of the left-over SWAG from the Pittsburgh Perl Workshop including shirts! Also remember that Dan Wright will be speaking about his use of Perl to help his Curling team. I got a preview of his talk and it's very interesting. As always we'll reserve some space at the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium for socializing after the event. -- Casey West From m.nooning at comcast.net Wed Dec 13 10:24:17 2006 From: m.nooning at comcast.net (Malcolm Nooning) Date: Wed, 13 Dec 2006 13:24:17 -0500 Subject: [pgh-pm] Reminder: Tonight's meeting includes books and shirts, and rocks! First, the more recently read books. Getting Things Done - Allen - Filled with good advice on how to maximize your time, and really how to not waste it. Stand Alone, Inventor! - Merrick - Of interest if you think you've invented something. In Search Of Stupidity - Chapman - A classic! Joel On Software - Unknown - Does not sound interesting but it is. It is one of the best. Mastering the Requirements Process - Robertson and Robertson - Had excellent reviews but I read it only enough to know that the contained knowledge was not useful to me. It could be extremely useful to the right person. Exploring Requirements - Gause & Weinberg - ... same as above Now for some oldies. Windows NT Workstation 4 - In good shape, but it is dated. If no one wants it I will throw it away. I am not taking it back home. Windows NT In a Nutshell - ... same as above MS-DOS Batch Files - Before you roll your eyes at this one, I find it useful from time to time. Yes, with different Windows variants. In fact I would not be bringing it in except that it happens to be an extra copy. I will be looking to exchange books. However, except for the NT books, I will just take home what others do not want. This means that, before the evening is through, you don't have to have a book to get a book. Casey West wrote: > Every December we hold our annual book exchange.
