Randal will be speaking on his adventures with template toolkit and how he used it to create the new www.stonehenge.com. The Technical Meeting: ONSITE! Technology, 333 SE 3rd St. at 7:00 PM. The Social Meeting: Read Below New Info Portion of this email (IOW: Please read): Curtis will not be able to coordinate this meeting due to other obligations so I have the rare privilege to taking it over for a month :). As an experiment (since Produce Row seems a little cramped), we will try another close venue, the Rose and Raindrop. To coordinate with the Rose & Raindrop, I would like an approximate headcount. So, if plan to attend please try and send and email to grep@onsitetech.com, this is not a RSVP so no one will be excluded if he/she changes his/her mind later. The social meeting will run from approx 6:00pm to 6:45pm. Christian Brink CTO ONSITE! I wish I could be there. In any event, I think things will likely be a bit smoother from here on out. I know of at least three people with presentations in the works and there are likely to be more people with ideas in the future, so the next three months look pretty solid in terms of meeting and stuff to meet about. It looks like we're on pretty solid footing now. On June 12, Todd Caine will be giving a presentation on POE (Perl Object Environment). >From an introduction on perl.com (http://www.perl.com/pub/a/2001/01/poe.html) POE is a framework for building Perl programs that lends itself naturally to tasks which involve reacting to external data, such as network communications or user interfaces. Programs written in POE are completely non- linear; you set up a bunch of small subroutines and define how they all call each other, and POE will automatically switch between them while it's handling your program's input and output. Those unfortunates living on the Eastern part of this country have pikes, or 'turnpikes', which is another name for toll highway. They get the priviledge of paying taxes as well as tolls. Pretty amazing when you consider the population density of places like e.g. new jersey. I didn't know this either until I did some cross country driving a few years ago. However, Rackspace is providing the hosting (for free, if I recall) and they attach their banner to the bottom of the page. The HTML is not actually in the page :( I was thinking about sending them an email, but since they're being generous in providing the page, I thought that looking a gift horse in the mouth might not be the best option. I should probably remove the darned buttons, now.
