Message-ID: <20030505144337.E49358-100000@droid.daze.net> Hey all, The website says the next meeting is Tuesday May 1st, but since May 1st doesn't fall on a Tuesday this year, I think that date is wrong. Is the next meeting on Tuesday May 6, or was it last week on Thursday May 1? Thanks! Message-ID: <001501c31353$2dcb0900$162b14ac@web.oit.ooweb.oakley.com> Greetings Everyone, Sorry it's been a while, but things have been pretty hectic as of late. There was a typo on the site that indicated May 1st was the meeting, when in fact it's actually tomorrow night (May 6th). Tomorrow night we'll be going over SAWA::Lite again, but instead of just a conceptual overview, we'll actually get to see it in action and perhaps discuss the code behind it. Hope to see you there - Michael -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Live examples with SAWA::Lite is the topic for tonight... Consult the website (http://oc.pm.org) for directions if needed, or simply contact me if you have any questions ;) Hope to see you there - Michael -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: <005a01c314e6$384fe6e0$162b14ac@web.oit.ooweb.oakley.com> Greetings, Thanks to everyone who attended last night's meeting, and here's a quick recap for those who couldn't make it: I presented SAWA::Lite again, but instead of a conceptual run-down, I showed step by step examples to illustrate *what* SAWA::Lite can do while showing *how* you can use it. It went pretty quick, and I got some great feedback from everyone - between everyone, we were able to fix a pretty gnarly recursion bug that I had overlooked and over all, SAWA::Lite is one step further from infancy ;) It's always scary to open up the hood to your code for public review, ( IMHO ), but a great deal of good came from it - thanks! As for next week's meeting, the topic is currently undecided...I was bouncing around the following ideas for a topic: the perl debugger perhaps a less advanced topic like an intro to something perl (perl itself? a module?) perhaps more advanced/effective stuff like discussing closures, maps, greps, etc... Let me know if you're teeth are itching for a particular topic... On a side note, SAWA::Lite with it's revisions from last night will be uploaded to sourceforge shortly... Until next moger meeting - Michael -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It is pretty cool and hopefully I will have the time to try it out in the near future! He's Ben Tilly, subject of a slashdot article (http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/03/21/0139244&mode=thread), but more importantly a very knowledgeable and talented guy (and has worked on core perl modules like Exporter and Carp), and has been very helpful in the perlmonks forum (http://www.perlmonks.org/index.pl?node_id=26179). The time and place is (tentatively) set for June 18th, 7pm at The Olde Ship (theoldeship.com) in Santa Ana (only about 10 minutes up the I-5 if traffic isn't bad :). Pub style food, dinner is under or around $10, and if you like english beer/ale, there's a good selection on tap :-) I'm also posting to the LA and SD.pm mailing lists, we'll see if anyone shows up, I know of one person from SD who wants to come. I'll post updates and reminders later, and I hope to see you there. -Doug
