I'm actually seeing lots of jobs where Perl is one of many language/tool requirements. In such cases, its difficult to assess how Perl will be utilized. I usually don't follow-up on these, because the overall skill set is just too strange.

difficulty of finding jobs where Perl is among the primary skills.
