The candidate will be a contributing developer in the Telecom Application Development group. The candidate will be asked to maintain and enhance existing systems and to assist in the development of new modules and systems. The systems are made up of a Sybase database with Sybase Power Builder and Web clients. We will be developing new applications in Java and migrating functions in existing applications to Java as well. Strong Perl, Sybase (or other relational database), Web (HTML/Javascript/CGI), and Java (applet and servlet) implementation and development skills are required. We are currently looking for a Web developer to work at our client, a leader in the brokerage industry. The project involves the development of informative, innovative web applications for hundreds of large scale corporate clients. Development will primarily be in Perl on a Unix platform. These websites focus on providing thousands of senior managers and millions of employees of client companies with detailed benefit and policy information. This includes providing links to real time related financial data (i.e. online trading of stock allocated in employee stock options/stock purchase plans). The project will involve extensive interaction with Sales and marketing. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with development analysis, supporting and troubleshooting online web sites. The candidate must know Perl, Unix and Windows with a backend of Sybase. Knowledge of TCP/IP is strongly preferred. Experience developing requirement documents, design skills and project planning is required. Industry experience is not required, but developers should have experience working on a commercial site and should be comfortable developing user specifications.
